In September, October and November this fall, small groups will pause one week a month in order to come together as a whole parish for teaching and fellowship. These times of all-parish instruction will happen on the second Thursday of the month, September 9, October 14 and November 11, at 7:30 p.m. in the basement of Christ Church.

The women of Ascension will be gathering to pray for each other and for the church community Sunday, August 22 at 10 a.m. Angela Weston will be hosting.

Our August picnic potluck will be this Sunday, August 15 following the service. This will also be your chance to say hi and goodbye again to Nancy Ruppel, who has been in Haiti for the last five months and is returning for another six months. Please bring your favorite food item to share. Weather permitting, we’ll go to Lyon Park.

Parents! Join us for the second week of the parenting workshop this Saturday, July 24, from 9-11 a.m. downstairs at Christ Church. Childcare and coffee are provided.

Ger Jones, the interim rector at Holy Trinity Church in Raleigh, NC, will be with us on Saturday, June 26 to lead a seminar on evangelism in the workplace. Ger worked in the corporate world internationally before entering the ministry. We will be joined by our sister churches, Advent and Resurrection for this seminar, which will be from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the basement at Christ Church.

Calling all men of Ascension! Bring your friends to the Colson’s front yard this Saturday, July 19, at 7:30 p.m. for a bean bag toss tournament and beer.

On June 6, following the worship service, we’ll have a congregational meeting to receive new members and new vision for where we’re headed as a church. Dinner and childcare will be provided. If you are interested in membership, please contact the church office.

On Thursday evenings at 7:30 from June 17 to July 28 (excluding July 1), meet Chuck in a back room at Northside Social (3211 Wilson Blvd–formerly Murky Coffee) for a light lecture and lively discussion. The working title is “Living Under the Influence of the Kingdom.” Check back for the real title and more details.

We are going to celebrate the Feast of the Ascension two days late, on May 15, by having a picnic together at Glencarlyn Park. We’ll be at picnic shelter #2 from 4 p.m. until sundown. Map 301 S Harrison Street to find it or ask Garrett and Leecie Brown for specific directions. Grilled meats will be provided. Please bring $5 or a side to contribute and any outdoor activities.

On Friday, April 23 at 8:00 p.m. join us at the Colson home for dessert and a round table discussion on the Roman Catholic Church.
